Each December, Google releases its year-in-review data, called the Year in Search, which serves to shed even more light on the topics that were on people’s minds this year. This collection of data showcases all of the people, events, and world-changing moments that caught our attention over the course of 2018.

We’ve gotten a peek into the top things Americans were looking up in 2018, and it’s a mix of the high and the low, the serious and the frivolous, the harrowing and the uplifting. Like his invisible jawline, you can continue to see the specter of Donald Trump tipping the scale in some categories. People wanted to know: What is DACA? What is a government shutdown? What is racketeering? And Meghan Markle fever is still sweeping the nation, as the year of Ariana Grande and her “thank u, next” breakup anthem continues into 2019. At least Americans clearly have time for the simpler things in life, like playing Fortnite (a lot) of Fortnite), watching Black Panther, and trying to figure out Bitcoin. And yes, thank goodness we were voting.

Check out the top Google searches of 2018, and see whether you fall in line with the rest of the Internet. You can also view all the top trending searches here or watch them in this video.
